It is the design of new equipment. Weaknesses of current machines are sufficiently studied. Scheduling of maintenance requires concurrence of production personnel to release the machine during the specified time. Maintenance personnel cannot expect to carry out their own plan and assume that it will be
acceptable to production people. It can be done on the basis of importance of the work in relation to production requirements, the duration of machine downtime and its effect on production and sales program.
How to make planning
Upon receive the work-order request planner will develop all those in details included in work order that will result in the job being done with high quality of minimum cost and a time compatible with the urgency of the request. Developing on the application and design of a maintenance system, the format and step of preparing a maintenance plan can be vary. The key steps in preparing a typical maintenance plan are:
1. Preparing an asset inventory: identifying the physical features like area, materials etc. all of assets. Which require maintenance.
2. Identifying maintenance activities and tasks: defining the types of maintenance task to be performed on each asset and what work should be done under each activity.
3. Identifying the frequency of the task: determining how often the activities should be performed. This important particular in preventive types of maintenance. Emergency or reactive types of repairs are unpredictable, but with good preventive maintenance, the frequency of emergency situation occurring may be reduced.
4. Estimating time required to complete the task: including how long each task should take to be complete.
5. Developing an annual work schedule: planning what time the maintenance work for the entire year should take place.
6. Preparing and issue a work order: identifying what, when, where and by whom maintenance work to be done.
7. Determining a budget: determining the total cost of all maintenance activities by calculating labour hours, materials, equipment, and contacting cost.
Planning and scheduling consist of
  • Anticipating future work.
  • Visualization of the nature and details of work.
  • Determining the best method to performed the work.
  • Arranging for the required materials.
  • Securing alteration in production program or scheduling of maintenance work to confirm to production plans.
